THE BEST PART OF MY JOB ISN’T CUTTING HAIR

People always assume the best part of being a barber is doing a clean fade or a big transformation.

For me, it isn’t.

It’s when someone sits in my chair and says,

“Just do what you think.”

That doesn’t happen on the first visit.

It usually takes a while. Sometimes months. Sometimes years.

Trust isn’t built because I can cut hair.

Melbourne has plenty of talented barbers. It comes from listening. Remembering how someone likes their fringe.

Knowing they have a wedding this weekend. Remembering they hate using hair products,

or that they’re trying to grow their hair out after having the same men’s haircut for years.

Those little things matter more than people realise.

I’ve always believed a good haircut should fit into your life, not the other way around.

Some guys enjoy spending fifteen minutes styling their hair every morning.

Others just want to wash it, dry it, and head to work. Neither is right or wrong.

When someone books a men’s haircut in Melbourne, they’re not just paying for shorter hair.

They’re trusting someone with the way they look every day until the next appointment.

That’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.

Maybe that’s why I don’t really chase trends anymore.

Trends come and go, but a haircut that genuinely suits someone never really goes out of style.

Maybe that’s also why some of my clients have been coming back for years.

And honestly, I hope they keep coming back for many more.
